      Eligibility for Admission (B.Sc Agriculture)

      • Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions given below as on the last date of submission of application are eligible to apply. The candidates passing the qualifying examination after the last date of submission of application shall not be considered.

      Eligibility for Admission (B.Sc Agriculture)

      Educational Qualifications

      • Higher Secondary Course (HSC) – Academic Stream:Candidates should have passed all the subjects in Academic stream of the Qualifying Examination with 10+2 years of schooling under Board of Higher Secondary Education of Government of Tamil Nadu / Central Board of Secondary Education / Council for The Indian School Certificate Examinations / other State Government Boards / other International Boards that are recognized, are eligible for the degree programme

      Candidates who studied any one of the following groups are eligible to apply:

      Group I

      • Mathematics
      • Physics
      • Chemistry
      • Biology

      Group II

      • Physics
      • Chemistry
      • Biology with a fourth (elective) subject of any science Botany and Zoology subject having marks (not Grades).

      Group II(A)

      • Physics
      • Chemistry
      • Botany
      • Zoology
      • Higher Secondary Course (HSC) – Vocational Stream:Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Course (HSC)under Vocational stream and studied Biology and Agricultural Practices as vocational subjects including theory and practicals, are eligible to apply for B.Sc.(Agriculture) degree.
      • Number of Attempts to Pass: The maximum number of permissible attempts to pass in the qualifying examination is as follows

        a. Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes : Three

        b. All other Communities : Two

      • Age Limit : Candidates should not have completed the age of 21 years on the first day of July of the admission year (i.e. as on 1.7.2015).
      • Physical Fitness : A certificate regarding the physical standards prescribed shall be obtained from any qualified Medical Practitioner at the time of admission

      System of education

      The pattern of instruction and evaluation in the University is the "Semester Course Credit System" in the medium of English.Under graduate Programme are of 8 Semesters (4 years) duration. An enrolled student in order to earn a Bachelor's Degree should complete the course credits prescribed from time to time and should have earned a minimum Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.50 out of 10.00. In addition to the above, students, in the judgment of the Faculty should possess good conduct and character

      Note book(Laptop) computers

      Laptop computer is mandatory for the undergraduate students of RKMVU. The e-learning initiatives in RKMVU necessitate use of laptop computers for learning as well as for assignments. Admitted candidates should bring their laptop computers at the time of commencement of classes.


      Ragging in any form, place or time is a cognizable offence that will attract severe punishment including summary expulsion from the institution. (Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extra ordinary dt.29.01.97, Bill No. 8 of 1997, Tamil Nadu Publication of Ragging Act.)

      Fee structure

      Course fee including tuition fee per semester : Rs.31,950

      One time fee at the time of admission ( Inclusive of caution deposit Rs.5000/-) : Rs.7,350

      Other fee like books, manuals, records, field uniforms, lab dress, sports dress with shoes, study tours, implements and self supporting fee are notified in the office.

      Refund of fees

      Semester fees for the newly admitted candidates are collected at the time of admission just before opening of the College. Hence, semester fees paid, except caution money deposit, are not refundable. Caution money deposit paid is refundable after the completion of the degree program or discontinuance from RKMV University.


      For the students of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University Faculty Centre for Agricultural Education and Research, hostel is compulsory. The details of charges for accommodation in hostels are given below

      Hostel & Mess Charges per semester (University Boys hostel) : Rs.20,000/*

      *This fee has to be paid by the students at the time of admission and would exclusively cover the room rent, electricity, water and establishment charges.

      Code of conduct for student

      The following code of conduct shall be observed by the students who are admitted:

      • The students should conduct themselves in an exemplary manner so as to be model for other students.
      • All students will have to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the University.
      • Those who are having keen interest in the course only can join.
      • RAGGING: The candidates should not indulge or participate in any kind of ragging. If they are found to have indulged in ragging in the past, or noticed later, the candidates will be removed from the roll of the institution at whatever stage of study and criminal action will be taken against the candidates.
      • If any student is involved in ragging or any other anti- social activities, he will be expelled and criminal proceedings may be launched against him.
      • The students should be present during all working days and sincerely apply themselves to studies. They should avoid applying for leave now & then.
      • The students should attend the classes regularly and punctually and should fulfil the attendance RKMVU-FAR8 requirement of 80% as prescribed by the University, to be eligible to appear for the University Examinations.
      • The campus is "Tobacco Free" and "Liquor Free". Any violation of this will result in dismissal of the candidate.
      • Use of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets are not permitted in the class rooms, examination halls, hostel, university organized functions / programmes / extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
      • Dress Code: Students need to wear formal dress White pant and Shirts for Theory classes and functions and Green Pant and Shirts for Practical Classes (Supplied by the college). Use of T-Shirts / Jeans and other modern outfits should be avoided during working hours and formal functions.

      dispute redressal

      With regard to the interpretation of the provisions of any matter not covered in this information brochure, the decision of the RKMV University shall be final and binding on all the parties concerned.

      Any complaints, grievances etc., related to UG admissions and academic matters must be first referred to the Administrative Head / Assistant Administrative Head, Faculty Centre for Agricultural Education and Research, Coimbatore who will be the appellate authority with respect to such complaints / disputes. The Courts having their jurisdiction at Coimbatore alone can adjudicate on all matters and disputes related to Under Graduate admissions and academic matters.

      rules and regulations

      • Dress code prescribed by the University must be followed in the campus.
      • Use of cell phone by students is strictly prohibited within the Vidyalaya campus.
      • Bicycle is compulsory.
      • Smoking and consumption of intoxicating liquor or any other similar material is forbidden in the campus.
      • The University and hostel routine, such as common prayer, study hours, community work, etc., are mandatory for all the students.
      • All matters relating to students discipline will be dealt with by a disciplinary committee constituted by the University and its decision will be final.
      • All students must bring their parents/guardians for Parents Meetings conducted at least once in a semester. Students from other states/overseas shall have to compulsorily nominate a local guardian by requesting a faculty of the University or any other person as Local Guardian residing in and around Coimbatore and willing to attend such meetings.
      • Lapses in discipline in maintaining attendance, regularity, unruly behaviour, leave without permission, etc., will result in fine, short suspension, or, in exceptional cases, expulsion from the University, as per the recommendation of the Dean or Disciplinary Committee.
      • The University reserves the right to modify or change any of the conditions mentioned in the prospectus from time to time.
      • It is a faculty residential course.
